There are many varieties, but they're reskins and slight tweaks of the aforementioned stuff.īleeding has makes me lose a fight I could have won in an annoying rather than exciting fashion.Īrchery is nerfed to a NASTY degree. You've got clothing, gambesons and maille armour (plus occasional scale). Limited armour because of the time period. Even if skills can now be half rather than a third of governing attribute, it's bad and you will go generalist regardless of play style. Gain 1 stat point (not skill point) every FIVE levels. Ships and sailing for a brand new way to fight, with customisable boats, skills and tactics. Mode in sandbox where you can immediately start as a lord or king if you wish. Story mission for exciting and branching narrative. New features like bleeding, 300+ unit battles and shield bash. It also helps prevent 0 damage spearing by arching down onto the foe. New overhead spear attack (with or without shield) varies animations and adds second angle of attack. I can now conquer the place closest to my house, yay! I'll list some pros and cons based on my experience: There are a couple of other mods that come close, however, but this is the best historical modification imo. The quality and polish of this mod puts it above the rest. IMO there's a reason this is a DLC and not just another mod. I find a lot of mods have really small battlefields where the enemy cavalry reaches you within the first 10 seconds. Huge battlefields that let you place your army exactly the way you need before the enemy comes too close. This really isn't a thing in any other mod I can think of since all infantry moves at the same pace. Heavy infantry moves a little slower, therefore you can use light infantry to harass the enemy and retreat, as they did historically. You'll find that you actually need both, not just the most upgraded tank units. The distinction between light and heavy infantry. While some heavy cavalry does exist in this mod, it's hard to come by in any significant numbers so you have to be very careful not to get them killed in suicidal charges. In native/other mods, you invariably gravitate towards an army of top tier cavalry. I like this because it's a very nice change of pace. Makes the world feel realistic because, in reality, a lot of these cultures' armed forces were virtually indistinguishable. It's clear the devs didn't try to embellish history with their portrayals. There's a few cultures that stand out as really unique, but the Angle/Saxon/Briton cultures have more subtle differences which I think is really cool. However, there is an option to start as a lord of a faction, which I recommend for a first playthrough. You need to get your bearings quickly or you'll end up in an endless loop of being kidnapped and robbed by bandits. There's several things I like about itĭoes not hold your hand. It's a really fun experience if you're into historical settings.
